Nuestra Casa Loans

Nearly 100,000 homeowners live in poverty conditions along the Texas-Mexican border. Many of their homes lack water and sewer service, reliable electric power, and flooring.                                                                                                                                                                                          

Through our Nuestra Casa loan program, which means “our home” in Spanish, Communities Unlimited helps families improve their living conditions.  These loans provide short-term financing to low-income residents in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas who generally don’t qualify for traditional bank loans.

Homeowners use these loans to pay for insulation, heating/air conditioning, electrical wiring, safe water, and septic/waste systems.

Our Nuestra Casa loans also provide additional benefits by creating jobs for local workers and contractors, increasing property values and the local tax base, and generating revenue from the sale of building materials needed for the projects.
