Jason and Kasey Young have launched Chef J’s Flavor Station, a new food truck serving the Tulsa, Oklahoma, community under their LLC, Forever Young Foodies. Specializing in chef-inspired Southern comfort dishes made from scratch, the couple offers a refreshing alternative to over-processed food. Their mission is clear: to make Chef J’s Flavor Station a go-to destination for fresh, flavorful meals.
Jason’s culinary journey began in his grandmother’s kitchen. “I grew up helping my mom and grandmother in the kitchen,” Jason said. “Back then, even before the Food Network, there were plenty of cooking shows on PBS and the Discovery Channel that I loved to watch.”
His early love for food evolved into a career when he enrolled in culinary school, attending classes five nights a week while working full-time. Graduating at the top of his class, Jason climbed the ranks to become sous chef at a high-end steakhouse, sharpening both his culinary skills and business acumen.
But like many entrepreneurs, Jason faced challenges. A job loss at a Tulsa steakhouse forced him to reevaluate his future.
“That was a tough time for me,” he said. “But my wife reminded me of my dream to open a food truck. She gave me so much love and support and wouldn’t let me give up. There were moments I felt like quitting, but she’d look me in the eyes and say, ‘You’re not giving up. You’re doing this.’”
With Kasey’s encouragement, the Youngs launched Chef J’s Flavor Station.
The startup became a reality with the support of a loan from Communities Unlimited (CU) and guidance from Area Director of Lending Debra Williams. Referred by CDFI Friendly Tulsa and Founding Director Isaiah Coleman, CU’s financial assistance helped cover the food truck’s startup costs.
The funds allowed the Youngs to purchase essential equipment, including a trailer, fire suppression system, predator power inverter, and deli prep fridge, as well as working capital for permits, licenses, inventory, marketing, and more.
“Debra was amazing. Anytime I had a question, she either already knew the answer or found it quickly. She was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. Her attitude was always upbeat, and she never sounded like she was having a bad day. She made the entire experience smooth and professional.”

The food truck is set to operate five days a week, serving lunch and dinner, with plans to cater weddings, corporate events, and community gatherings. Jason and Kasey already have recurring events booked for 2025, including partnerships with a local brewery and a pickleball venue.
As they prepare to officially launch, Jason reflects on the support from CDFI Friendly Tulsa and CU that helped make their dream a reality.
“With their ongoing help and guidance, I know this business will succeed. They’ve been incredible, helping me secure the funds to turn this dream into reality. The sky’s the limit. It’s reassuring to know that if I ever have questions or need advice, I can always reach out to Communities Unlimited and CDFI Friendly Tulsa. Their support has been a key part of making this happen, and I’m so grateful.”
