Debra Lockard has loved working on her family’s farm since she was a little girl. Debra wanted to make her farm a sustainable business for future generations. She became involved in the Mid-South Value Chain. The Mid-South Value Chain provided on-farm technical assistance to prepare Debra for GAP/GHP certification. Once she received her GAP/GHP certification, she was able to begin selling to Shelby County Schools in Memphis, TN, grocery stores, restaurants and other institutional buyers in addition to regular trips to are farmer’s markets.
