Management Consultant (Bi-Lingual Telecommuter) – Little Rock, AR

Summary of Position

Management Consultants provide direct one-on-one managerial assistance to small businesses located throughout our 7 state target market, with primary emphasis in the region around their office location. The incumbent should be passionate about social and economic justice, possess strong financial and management skills, and be excited to work in a team environment serving entrepreneurs that want to start successful businesses or need help to maintain/expand their current business and need help to overcome barriers to their success including limited credit history, limited access to financial/managerial training or education, and lack access to traditional financing options.

Education/Certification Requirements

Master’s degree is required, with a strong preference for an MBA or a Masters in Social Entrepreneurship.

Experience/Skills Requirements

3 years related work experience, business ownership experience preferred; Passionate about social and economic justice; Strong financial and management skills and experience; Excellent facilitation, writing, computer and analysis skill; Ability to work in a team setting.

Must be able to demonstrate experience building trust-based relationships with CU’s target client audience, which includes underserved entrepreneurs: in the Mississippi River Delta; in rural persistent poverty communities; with English as their second language; and others including veteran small business owners, woman-owned businesses, and disabled small business owners.

Candidate must be Bi-lingual, with demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.

Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel throughout CU’s target market in Arkansas and parts of Northeastern Oklahoma. Majority of work can be completed virtually by telecommuting with occasional onsite travel for training and client work required as conditions allow/require.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

Community Environmental Management Technician – Oklahoma City, OK

Summary of Position

Primary responsibilities include providing on-site technical assistance to rural communities with water or waste disposal problems and needs in the areas of project planning and financing, and utility management/administration.

 Education/Certification Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent / Technical or Associates Degree preferred. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.

 Experience/Skills Requirements

Two years of previous job experience with strong public / customer service skills. Experience that demonstrates the ability to prepare formal reports and program progress reports.

Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to work under limited supervision and results oriented.

The position requires strong financial, analytical and writing skills. Must be accurate and detail

oriented. Proficient in the use of a personal computer including software programs such as MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

LENDING

Director of Lending

Summary of Position

The Director of Lending is responsible for the leadership, development and effective implementation of the lending function in a way that integrates our lending strategies within Communities Unlimited’s (CU) overall organizational mission and capacity building program areas. The position manages all aspects of CU’s lending activities, including the management of four distinct loan fund portfolios, supervision of staff and lending operations, training of loan originators across the organization, management of loan policies and the growth of capital resources to increase CU’s lending assets.  S/he must be aware of and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements and be responsive to customer needs. The position requires the Director of Lending to exercise considerable independent thought while serving as an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team.

The Director of Lending manages delinquencies and all collection efforts on loan accounts, coordinates the identification and development of loan products with other departments, and evaluates the usage and impact of CU loans. (S)he manages the loan process and chairs the Loan Committees, packages loans for customers, and develops and implements marketing strategies for loan products. S/he is responsible for financial reporting to and management of relationships with investors, financial institutions and national partnerships.

Education/Certification Requirements

Applicant must meet one of the following options.

OPTION A: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in lending or community development finance, with a demonstrated ability to underwrite small business loans.

OPTION B: Associate degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in lending or community development finance, with a demonstrated ability to underwrite small business loans.

OPTION C: A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of experience in lending or community development finance, with a demonstrated ability to underwrite small business loans.

Skills and Experience

      • Commitment to CU’s mission and an ability to relate to people living in Southern rural communities, especially people of color
      • Strong financial management and analysis skills to prepare and monitor an annual program budget and provide insights into the finances of our customers
      • Highly organized person who is able to use technology to develop or improve systems to enhance compliance, manage investors, monitor loan portfolio and track lending metrics
      • An entrepreneurial spirit that seeks new mission-aligned opportunities and understands the steps needed to develop new products and serve new communities, while ensuring that current CU financial products are deployed efficiently and effectively
      • Strong relationship building skills and ability to identify, cultivate and nurture partnerships
      • Experience writing successful private and/or federal grant applications may be given preference
      • A track record of meeting regulatory requirements such as customer confidentiality and other government regulations
      • A collegial and empowering work style
      • Ability to travel and build relationships throughout CU’s seven state service area
      • Location in CU’s service area is required. Candidates located in Fayetteville or are willing to relocate to Fayetteville at some mutually agreed upon time may be given preference.

Supervisory/management experience: Applicant must have a minimum of three years of experience managing and empowering a team of at least two individuals.

Portfolio management experience: Applicant must have a minimum of two years of portfolio management experience that includes servicing and risk assessment.

Grant management: Applicant must have a minimum of two years of experience managing compliance and reporting requirements for multiple funding sources.

Technology skills: Communities Unlimited is a Microsoft 365 Cloud-based organization that uses a variety of technology tools to support our work (virtual and on-site) across our service area. All staff are connected through Microsoft 365, iPhones and a cloud-based telecommunication system. Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of a Windows-based computer and the Microsoft Office Suite including: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Prior experience with Microsoft 365 Cloud systems (e.g., SharePoint, Teams), ZOOM, database management tools, ZOHO forms, iPad apps that support document review/approval, and iPhone app-based tools is a plus.

Valid driver’s license required or ability to secure valid driver’s license.

Lending Portfolio Associate – Fayetteville, AR

Summary of Position

The Loan Portfolio Associate will join a growing team of professionals working together to support the growth of the CDFI.  Primary duties include processing loan requests for all portfolios and tracking those requests for reporting and management; providing closing documentation for all loans and ensuring that physical and electronic files are accurate and complete; tracking performance and compliance on all loans; collections and data management; providing accurate and timely reports for client management.

Education/Certification Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Associates degree preferred.

Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.

Experience/Skills Requirements

Ability to demonstrate at least two years of experience working with commercial loan portfolio(s) is required.

Ability to demonstrate the following is required:

      • Experience in small business or commercial loan processing and file management.
      • Ability to review and understand financial statements as evidenced by answering common questions for which the answer is obtained from the financial statements.
      • Experience managing customer information and critical documents where attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality is required.
      • Proficiency in the use of a Windows-based computer and Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with Microsoft 365 cloud-based systems, including TEAMs and SharePoint is a plus.
      • Experience using and entering data in database systems.
      • Successful experience managing multiple tasks from multiple team members with competing deadlines.

Must have reliable personal transportation and be willing to travel to client sites as/when needed. The organization reimburses staff for mileage and other travel related expenses per policy. NOTE:  At this time, the organization is limiting travel due to the pandemic to only essential business travel.

The entry level salary of this position starts at $41,827 – $46,498 based upon experience and qualifications.
