From the Ground, LLC
Fredie and Patti Manes own From the Ground, LLC, a small farm in Hornbeck, LA. They grow leafy greens, carrots, tomatoes and other vegetables. They sell at the local farmers markets and online with free local delivery. They wanted to be able to extend their growing season and decided to invest in high tunnels, a type of large greenhouse. The needed a small business loan to make this investment. Fredi and Patti looked to their local economic development organization and were referred to Communities Unlimited. The high tunnels have been installed, and they are growing fresh vegetables year-round.
